Professional background

Dr Julie served in the Australian Defence Force for over 20 years, including operational service overseas, with diverse roles and postings prior to medical studies. Issues with returning soldiers from deployments started her interest and move to specialist training in psychiatry. 

Coming from a broad-based life perspective, Dr Julie has good grounding in which to formulate recovery pathways that acknowledge childhood and life experiences. The impact of family-of-origin, resilience, and trauma is important; with initial consultations identifying disruptions to physiological and developmental pathways. Dr Julie has a good understanding of workplace stressors impacting first responders, particularly areas such as; deployments, adverse work environments & experiences, training issues, and reintegration. Dr Julie is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and is also board certified with the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

At this time Dr Julie is not offering ADHD assessments but will consider psychiatric review for employment suitability and following acute trauma
