Getting a referral

The following steps are required for admission to one of our hospitals

Mental health admissions

The following steps are required to be admitted to one of our hospitals for mental health support.

Get a referral

You will require a referral from your GP or treating doctor, to a psychiatrist with admitting rights at one of our hospitals.

Assessment of referral

Once our hospital receives your referral, our admissions and assessment team will give you a call to conduct an over-the-phone assessment.

We will require and check your insurer details during this assessment (this includes health funds, workers compensation insurer or other). You can also self-fund if applicable.

Following this assessment, we will then discuss your referral with a psychiatrist with admitting rights. This is a psychiatrist who consults to our hospital under their own independent business.

Acceptance of referral

Once we confirm your eligibility for admission to our hospital, we will contact you to arrange your admission date. We will then arrange transfer of your care and management to a psychiatrist with admitting rights.

Costs and Insurance cover

Our Admissions and Assessment Team will confirm the following with you

  • What costs will be covered
  • Any out of pocket-of-pocket expenses to be paid
  • Any excess or co-payment with your health insurance required to be paid at time of admission
  • Self-funded options to be paid at time of admission, generally 10 days up front plus Doctors
